Chandramouleshwara Temple is located on the old Pune - Bangaluru highway NH4,Near,Unkal circle and Unkal Lake Unkal Hubli Karnataka India.The temple was built in about 900 years ago and  built by the Chalukyas to panic their enemies by boasting a splendid show of power and wealth. Others believe that the Chalukyas wanted to impress their subordinates by expressing love for architecture.Another popular belief is that the Chalukyan wanted to purify their soles from the sin that they had committed by killing innocent people in the war by building this temple. The temple was built by an anonymous group of artists, architects, sculptors and mansions.Chandramouleshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.The Chandramouleshwara Temple of Hubbali in Dharwad district has four doors in as many directions besides two big Shivalingas.  The temple has sculpted walls and pillars of black granite stones. Images of dancing Lord Ganesha and jaalandhra at Chandramouleshwara Temple are a visual delight.The architectural style that developed in this part is known as the Chalukya style.

Chandramouleshwara Temple has been standing strong since centuries however some part it needs major restoration else it would deteriorate further in the coming years.It is considered to be a Monument of National Importance.The Archeological survey of India(ASI) has tagged it as a Protected Monument under the Ancient Monumens and Archeological Sites(Act 1958), However ,the restoration work hasn't been taken very seriousaly.The government must make approprite effort to ensure that it is restored and conversed.
