Mahasu Devta Temple is located on the Tuini-Mori road at Hanol. Mahasu Devta Temple is on the eastern bank of Tons River (Tamas) at Hanol village, near Chakrata, about 195 km from Dehradun and 156 km from Mussoorie.Hanol Mahasu Temple is situated at an altitude of 1429 m in the village of Hanol.The temple is dedicated to Mahasu Devta. Lord Mahasu is regarded as God of Justice and his decision was believed to be acceptable by people and local rulers.The temple was constructed in Huna architectural style initially but, over the ages, acquired a mixed style. The temple is made of stone and wood. Architecture is splendid and there are some excellent wood carvings.

The main sanctum, with a small door guarding the entrance, remains closed most of the time. Inside the temple compound there are two extremely heavy round-shaped stones lying on the grass. It is believed that only a person with the clearest heart will be able to lift those stones without breaking a sweat. History of Mahasu Devta Temple


According to Hindu mythology, Mandarth a demon used to reside in this village that used to gobble one many every day. As the villagers were troubled, a devotee of Lord Shiva then asked for help and prayed to the lord for seeking help. Lord Shiva then asked Deolari Devi, a devotee of Lord Shiva and resident of the same village to send her all four sons to Mandrath. A fierce battle encountered between them, which lasted for a couple of days and at last, the four brothers, managed to kill the demon. After a couple of years, a villager while sloughing his field found the four Shivalingas which were named after the four brave sons of Deolari Devi-Botha, Pavasik, Vasik and Chalda. Since then, the villagers started worshiping Lord Shiva as Mahasu Devta here. Temple of Botha Mahasu is the main shrine that is located in Hanol.

The Annual Fair: Mahasu Devata fair is held every year in the month of August and is regarded as the most important religious fair by the locals. The fair is held at Hanol is celebrated by the Jaunsari tribe. Other communities also join them. This fair represents the cultural harmony between the various communities of the region.

The Jagara: The Jagara celebrated for Mahasu Devata is typical to his cult and is not for outsiders. It is held in the month of Bhadon of the Indian calendar on the eve of Naga chauth as this is the day when the lord appeared from the ground. The images of the Lord are ritually bathed and wrapped in the folds of a sheet of cloth. During the ceremonial procession, no one is allowed to be near the image to avoid the curse of the Lord. Just before sunset, the image is taken inside the temple and placed on the altar. There are various rituals and festivities associated with the Jagara including sacrificing of a goat for pleasing the deity.

Trinetra Ganesha Temple is located in Ranthambhore Fort and sanctuary, which is situated 11 km away from Sawai Madhopur Rajasthan India.The temple was built in 1299 A.D. and built by King Hammer, who is believed to be an ardent devotee of Lord Ganesha.During the time of war they filled there godowns with foods and all the necessary things in Ranthambhore Fort, where King resides. The visitors on this occasion get to see a cocktail of events and activities at the temple to celebrate the festival with fervor. Ganesh Chaturthi magnetizes millions of devotees to Ranthambhore every year. The idol is tinted in Orange color which is a highly sacred color, particularly in Hindu religion. Gorgeous and heavy golden ornaments as well as several wreath of marigold are utilized to festoon the Ganesha idol. A number of small but beautiful shops in the nearby market draw the attention of visitors and tourists.The best day to visit the temple is Wednesday, the special day dedicated to Lord Ganesh.

Raghunathji Temple is located in Devprayag which is situated Tehri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand India.This temple was built by Raja Jagat Singh of Kullu. He brought an idol of Lord Ram from his birthplace Ayodhya in an unethical manner. To get rid of his sin, he constructed the temple of Lord Ram. The construction for the current structure of the shrine was started in 1835 by Maharaja Gulab Singh who was the founder of the kingdom of Jammu and Kashmir. The temple construction was completed in 1860 during the reigns of Maharaja Ranbir Singh, son of Maharaja Gulab Singh. As per another belief, the temple was originally established by Adi Shankaracharya during the 8th century. It was later expanded by the Garhwal Kingdom.The temple is dedicated to Lord Rama. The ancient Raghunath Temple here with a 15 foot tall deity of Sri Rama (Raghunath) is one of the 108 most important temples in India. In front of temple is a statue of Garuda. Behind the temple and slightly up a hill is Vamana’s cave and nearby is Lord rama’s stone throne. It’s beliefs that 33 crore god and goddess are live here.

It is one of the oldest existing temples of India. Raghunathji temple is made of huge uncemented stones, kept one over another, in a pyramid shape. The temple recieves lakhs of pilgrims every year. According to a local legend, the shrine is dedicated to lord Rama, when he came back to Ayodhya after his victory over Lanka. The temple compound also hosts Annapurna Devi temple, Hanuman temple, Shankaracharya temple and Garud temple.

Bhim got angry because of this and decided to take the matter in his own hands and started to move the tail of monkey by himself.

When the tail did not move after several attempts, Bim was surprised and realized that this was no ordinary monkey. He then humbly requested the monkey to reveal His true identity. This is when Lord Hanumana who is the devoted disciple of Lord Rama, showed him His original form and this is how the place got its name.
