Jharani Narasimha Cave Temple is located in a cave Bidar Karnataka.The temple in situated in a cave where the water runs up to 300 metres.The temple is built around 500 years ago.The temple is dedicated to powerful God Lord Narasimha.The Temple is known for its natural beauty and is considered to be very sacred. This ancient temple is excavated in a 300 m tunnel under the Manichoola hill range. Within the cave, a stream of water is said to be flowing continuously since the foundation of the temple. Devotees have to walk waist deep in the water for 300 m for the darshan of Lord Narasimha.The temple is having a cave pathway with full of water 365 days.

The temple of Narasimha Jhira has a myth which mentions that the mighty Lord Narasimha first killed Hiranyakashipu and then proceeded to slay the demon Jalasura who was a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva. After being killed by Lord Narasimha, the demon Jalasura turned into water and started flowing down the feet of the Lord Narasimha.For this reason, people have to wade all the way through the water to reach the Lord. Recent arrangements were made to provide electricity and ventilation in this cave. You’ll need to take a quick bath in the water fountain located outside the Narasimha Jhira Cave temple.


The end of the cave houses two deities ,Lord Narasimha and a Shiva Linga which the demon Jalasura had worshipped. Around eight people can stand and watch this spectacular sight as there is very little space here. Others will need to wait in the water.

More Information about Srikanteshwara or Nanjundeshwara Temple

on the banks of River Kapila (also known as Kabini) in Mysore district.Shri Nanjundeshwara or Srikanteshwara Temple at Nanjangud is one of the ancient temples of Karnataka.The temple was built about 11th Century.Later, this temple has then been renovated by the Hoysala kings. Both Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan had close associations with this temple. Wodeyar kings have provided various grants to renovate the temple.The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva known as here Srikanteshwara or Nanjundeshwara.Nanjangud literally means the place where Lord Nanjundeshwara resides. Nanjundeshwara means the God who drank poison for welfare of the world.

 

It is believed that sage Gauthama stayed here for some time and has installed a Shiva Linga, the idol of Lord Shiva. Lord Nanjundeswara also referred to as Lord Srikanteswara, Vishakanta, Nanjunda. It is also believed that Lord Nanjundeshwara cures diseases of his devotees. The spacious temple also houses minor shrines of Lord Narayana, Chandikeswara, Parvathi, Natya Ganapathi and others.

This big temple and measures 385 feet by 160 feet in dimension. The outer walls of the temple are about 12 feet high. The beautifully carved huge tower on top of main entrance has seven stages. On top of it there are seven gold plated Kalasas flanked by two horns.The interiors of temple is beautifully carved with several scupltures of dieties Shiva, Subramanya, Parvati, Chandikeshvara and Ganapathi. The pillars are carved with beautiful sculptures.Even on the exterior walls of the temple there are beautiful sculptures.

Kopeshwar Shiva Temple is located at on the bank of the Krishna in Khidrapur Kolhapur District Karnataka India.The temple was built in 7th Century AD and built by Chalukya kings.The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva , here known as Kopeshwar .The temple is known for one of most outstanding and beautiful examples of Temple Architecture in India. The inscriptions dating back to the 12th century clearly support this.The exterior of which is founded on 92 elephant carvings and the interiors embedded amidst 108 stone carved pillars. Besides, the temple is studded with stunning pieces of carvings, ranging from that of Gods and Goddeses, dancing girls, men from Africa and Arabia besides that of birds and animals.In the interior you see first Vishnu( Dhopeshwar) and Shivling facing north. But there is no nandi who has separate Mandir. Separate Actor-Pendal, hall, old pillars, carvings of gods and male-female artists in various poses are attractive. 

The legend says that When sati Parvati jumped into Daxa sacrifice, Lord Shiva was angry. He got peace of rnind in this temple From entrance to Shivaling, we feel peace, coldness and Dark Shankaracharya had appointed servants for the management. The Temple is divided into four major sections - the Swargamandapam, Sabhamandapam, Antaral Kaksha and Garbha griha. the Swargamandapam is separated from the main temple and has 12 round pillars ascending towards the ceiling. beautiful images of kings, queens and their vehicles are carved on them. the three rows of 12 pillars each are adorned with beautiful artistic designs. A large, black, flat stone 14 feet in diameter is installed at the centre of the Swargamandapam. The Swargmandapam has a circular open ceiling also made of stone is also intricately carved. meant let out smoke during a Yagna for which the hall was made.The temple today is being restored and is well maintained under the supervision of Archelogical survey of India.

Saraswathi Temple is located at Gadag Karnataka.The temple was built around 1050AD Chalukyas time and built by Chalukyas.The temple is dedicated to Goddesh Sharaswati.consists of a sanctuary with a small and a large open hall. The walls of the sanctuary are decorated with pilasters covered by very elaborate miniature temple towers. The open hall has one entrance and its roof incorporates straight sloping eaves. The low parapet wall is reclined outwards and is richly carved. The temple's pillars are remarkable. In the 'Chalukyan Architecture of the Kanarese Districts of 1926', Cousens wrote, "The pillars are most beautiful specimens of Chalukya work.The temple is still in active use and there are constructions which are of the modern era within the ornate stone sculptures of the original constructed during the Western Chalukyan times.The original deity of Saraswathi Devi became damaged by age and rascals, and a newly carved murti has now been installed in an adjacent shrine.
