More Information about Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial 

Kanyakumari is famous all across the world for Vivekanand rock that houses a memorial dedicated to Swami Vivekanand. The memorial has two structures in its precincts - Vivekananda Mandapam and Sripada Mandapam on two rocks facing each other. The smaller rock called 'Sripada Parai' is revered as a sacred spot where Goddess Kanya Kumari did meditation. The rock has an impression of a human footprint, which is revered to be that of Goddess Kanya Kumari.

Vivekananda Mandapam is thronged by tourists from across the world and all those who seek mystical enlightenment come to meditate here. It has a Meditation Hall called Dhyan Mandapam where one can meditate in peace. In the Assembly Hall or Sabha Mandapam there is a statue of Swami Vivekanand. The design of mandapam has different styles of temple architectures of India, instilling a complete Indian essence within itself.

 

While the main building has an architectural style reminiscent of the Sri Ramakrishna Temple at Belur, the entrance is inspired by the Ajanta and Ellora cave temples. Inside the main hall is a life-size statue of the Swamiji. Besides the hall, there’s also a dhyana-mandapam, where devotees can sit in meditation.  Adjacent to the main mandapam, is the Sri Pada Mandapam.

Vivekananda Mandapam and Shripada Mandapam are designed in such a way that the vision of Swamiji’s statue in Pralima Mandapam is directed towards the Shripadam. The different architectural styles of India have been incorporated in the construction of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial.

About  Kanyashram Shakti Pith Temple

The Kanyashram Shakti Pith Temple is located in Kanyakumari Tamil Nadu.The temple is dedicated to Goddesh Durga.Devi's back fell here and the idols are Devi as Sharvani and Bhairav as Nimisha. There are varying opinions about whether this is Kanyashram or Kalikashram or Kanyakumari.Then, at the place of fall of back, this beautiful temple was constructed. Kanyakumari Shakti Peeth is situated in Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu, India. Here the idol of maa Sati is called as ‘Sharwani’ and the lord Shiva is worshipped as ‘Nimish’. 

As this Shakti Peeth is surrounded by water all over the place, the scenic beauty of this place is really adorable and looks great when the sun rises or sets. Kanyakumari Shakti Peeth is surrounded by sea from all side. There is a small island on which the temple of Maa is situated. Although this island has got several modifications, but the main temple architecture is still intact. On top of the temple, the whole dome is constructed with the help red stone. This Shakti Peeth is also called as Kanyashram or Kalikashram and is quite famous here. 

Near to this, another famous Shakti Peeth is there and its name is Suchindram. The art and architecture of this Suchindram temple is unique and blends with the Tamil Nadu culture. From outside the whole temple looks white, as it is made of white stone. On the other hand, the top part is made of various sculptures that depict the various gods and the fine stone work done on it is highly commendable. You can see number of palm trees planted in front of the Suchindram temple. So much so is the religious importance of this place that every year people in million numbers flock to this part of the country.

History of  Kanyashram Shakti Pith Temple Kanyakumari

According to a lengend, Banasura, the king of Demons, had obtained a boon from Lord Siva that he could be vanquished only by a virgin. Unable to bear the harassmentof the Asura king, the Devas invoked Goddess Parashakti too redeem them. Shakti came here as a virgin girl and did penance on the shores. Lord Siva of Suchindrum wished to marry the Goddess, and the wedding was fixed for an auspicious hour before dawn. Devarishi Narada, realising that the marruage will spoil the end of Banasura, falsely heralded the break of dawn by assuming the form of a cock even as the wedding party was on its way to kanniyakumari. The Divine wedding did not take place as siva returned to Suchindrum disappointed. The Devi also resumed Her penance on the rock, now known as Sripadaparai, a few hundred metres offshore.
Meanwhile, Banasura heard about the beauty of the girl and came to request Her hand in marriage. When Devi rejected the idea, the demon king decided to win her by force. This led to a fierce battle, in which the Goddess killed the demon. The relieved Devas returned blessed.
The Sripadaparai is now known as Swami Vivekananda Rock, where the holy feet of the Goddess is enshrined.The tradition here is to take a holy dip at the bathing ghat at the confluence of the three seas. There are about 25 Theerthams on the shores.

A woman was cutting the paddy crops in the field. Blood oozed out from one bunch. Scared woman informed her experience to the people of the place. They came to the place and found a Nagaraja idol. They immediately built a hut around the Nagaraja. The king of Kerala, Marthanda Varma, suffering from skin problems came and worshipped here. His disease was cured. He built a big temple here then. This is the only big temple built exclusively for Nagaraja worship in Tamilnadu. The place also came to be known as Nagercoil.

Sri Bhagavathi the beautiful temple located at the convergence of the Indian Ocean, The Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal giving the most amazing image to the pilgrimages.
