More Information about San Marga Iraivan Temple

The San Marga Iraivan Temple is located at Kaholalele Rd town near Kapa‘a city in Hawaii states of USA.The temple was built about 1000 years ago.The temple is dedicated to Hindu God Lord Shiva. The temple is the first all-stone temple to be built in the United States. It is maintained by the Saiva Siddhanta Church, also known as Kauai Aadheenam and Kauai’s Hindu Monastery. The temple is being constructed stones quarried and sent to Hawaii from Hydrabad. It is fascinating in that the symbols combine traditional Indian and Hawaiian icons. The grounds are beautiful and they are building it into a botanical garden. The puja being held at the smaller temple nearby while the Iraivan temple is being built houses the largest crystal in the world- a 600 lb. lighted Shiva Lingam. Lovely banyan trees with Shiva statues, Ganesh, etc. Worth the visit! No bare shoulders or shorts, so either dress appropriately or be prepared to put a sarong around your body to cover up.

There are two sets of “musical pillars” with tall rods, which when struck with a mallet, resonate exact musical tones.Six granite stone lions carved into the pillars each with a stone ball freely rotatable in its mouth, which cannot be removed, a large stone bell, and 10-foot-long (3.0 m) stone chains with loose links. The main Idol is a consecrated Spathika Shivalinga.  Its a six faced 700 lbs clear quartz crystal.  It was found in this perfect state buried in mud – not cut out from any rock. A local crystal shop owner Almitra Zion, had gone all the way to Arkansas following a dream to get it.
