History of Mahalaxmi Temple

Actually during those days the engineers were not in a position to connect the Mahalakshmi area with Worli by making Breach Candy, due to the reason of vicious tides. The condition here was that the engineers dropped the plan. One day, Goddess Mahalakshmi appeared in the dream of Chief Engineer and asked him to make her shrine at the current place itself. Accordingly then immediately the temple was constructed around 1785, which ultimately lead to the construction of Breach Candy.

It is said that both Lords Shri Lakshmi and Shri Vishnu reside in the Karveer area eternally and shall not leave even at the time of Mahaprayakala.
The temple is famous as it is one of the six sites of the Shakti, where devotees can get both fulfillments of desires as well as salvation from them.
